Purpose:
The HOPE Coalition brings together community members, organizations, and local, state and Tribal governments, to reduce substance use and the harms associated with it across all ages, with a strong focus on youth. We work collaboratively to strengthen protective factors and decrease risk factors in order to support healthy, connected lives and promote resilience in our community.

Goals:
-
Prevent substance use by fostering positive choices and meaningful connections with culture, peers, trusted adults, families, and the broader community.
-
-
Promote mental wellness, cultural identity, and a strong sense of belonging.
-
Strengthen the 7 dimensions of wellness: emotional, physical, social, spiritual, environmental, intellectual, and occupational to support holistic, wellbeing across all ages.
-
-
Support suicide prevention and address community-specific challenges such as seasonal depression and grief.
-
Align efforts with grant requirements and the diverse needs of our community to build a healthier, more hopeful future.
-
-
Engage in ongoing community surveying, data collection, and education to inform strategies, raise awareness, and support evidence-based prevention efforts.

Social Justice and Racial Equity Lending Library
This months book reccomendation

Historical trauma and racial inequity negatively affect the health and well-being of many people across the United States as well as here in Sitka. In an effort to help address this, Sitka Counseling/HOPE Coalition has developed a “lending library” of books, articles, and other materials that can be checked out by community members. See a book you're interested in checking out? Contact one of our Prevention Staff at prevention@scpsak.org
