Amy Zanuzoski, BA, COS

Executive Director

Amy Zanuzoski has been the Executive Director since 2012, and with Sitka Counseling since 2009 when she moved to this beautiful town. She enjoys being a part of such a dynamic agency and watching it grow over the years. Her work is split between growing the agency and working with the team. When not at the office, Amy is usually walking or hiking with her dog, camping, shrimping or hunting. She loves to travel and explore new tropical locations.

Kerry Tomlinson, MBA

Finance Director

Kerry Tomlinson has been the Finance Director since 2014 and joined Sitka Counseling in 2010. She moved to Sitka 25 years ago and fell in love with Alaska and the community of Sitka. She holds a Master of Business Administration degree, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Management. When not at work, Kerry enjoys traveling with her husband, spending time with family and friends and volunteering.

Doug Smith, MD

Medical Director

Dr. Smith is a board certified psychiatrist who has been in practice for over 30 years. He lived in Sitka 1990-1992 while serving as Director of Mental Health Services at Mount Edgecumbe Hospital and consulting with “Island Counseling” (now Sitka Counseling). He now has a private practice in Juneau, but has been returning to Sitka twice a month for over ten years to hold clinics at Sitka Counseling.

Marita Bailey, LPC, MAC, CDCI

Clinical Director

Marita Bailey is a Licensed Professional Counselor and LPC Supervisor with the State of Alaska, Master Addiction Counselor by National Certification Commission for Addiction Professionals and Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor with Alaska Commission for Behavioral Health Certification. Marita holds a Master of Arts Counseling degree and a Bachelor of Science Psychology degree. Marita moved to Alaska in 2010 to begin working with Sitka Counseling, later accepting a position as Clinical Director in 2012.  Marita believes in creating a safe and nurturing atmosphere for therapy. This supportive environment allows individuals and families to change, grow and reconnect with their strengths and aspirations. 

Loyd Platson, MS, CPS, ICPS

Coalition/Prevention Director

Loyd Platson has a Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling with concentrations in Substance Abuse and Family Systems, and has worked in the prevention field for over 45 years. He serves as the Prevention Director at Sitka Counseling. He loves living in this beautiful and dynamic place. His goal is to help create a more healthy and equitable community for all Sitkans. Loyd’s joys in life are hiking, kayaking, fishing and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
